I’m a teacher, and year after year I interact with tons of neurodivergent students of all ages. From the start of reading Eleanor, I instantly recognized some of my students in her and it gave me an even deeper look into how important it is to support people.

I’m sure people have asked this before, but are there just like, a million cafes in Seoul? I know it’s a big city but it literally seems like there’s multiple on every street/corner/block/alley etc. And a lot of them are so tiny too!

Hey Cari! heads up that if your new apartment floor is laminate then you could end up damaging it with the steam mop, the TLDR is that any cleaning process that introduces a lot of moisture along the joints is not suitable for laminate flooring and can introduce warping/peeling. your flooring could be LVT though so just warning to check and be sure!

Hour of the Star is one of those classic books you read in high school here in Brazil, so it's really cool seeing this. Here we also have that stereotype of people posting aesthetic pictures with her books but never really reading them, it's funny how that's something not exclusive to Brazil. I remember not really liking the book when I read it, but again, required reading in high school, so it's not really surprising. I should try and read it again now that it isn't homework anymore, Clarice has a really distinct writing style. Also, more brazilian author recommendations: Machado de Assis and Jorge Amado are also classics here and they're awesome. There's a ton more, but those are ones I really like and they probably have a lot of books translated to english.

It’s poetic that at the beginning of this vlog, you were reading a book that talked about freedom from oppression and then later on you discuss the oppression and occupation of Korea under Japan. Though it is not justice, it is poetic that Sohn Kee-chung was able to carry the torch for his true country in 1988. TLDR, History is depressing but we must learn it to beat it.

love that you were like "im just going to a random small cafe" and then went to Hawelka. Hawelka is an institution. It has a long history of being a meeting point of the literature and art scene since mid 19th century. Also the reason why some people call the monument at Schwarzenbergplatz offensive is because it commemorates the russian soldiers that liberated Vienna after WWII. Today some can't seem to seperate from current politics thus the ukranian colours in the back.

I feel like that would also connect me more with the content and make me feel less "adrift in space" 🫠
